🔹 What is a Ledger in Tally Prime?

A Ledger in Tally Prime is like a notebook or record where you keep the financial details of a particular account or person.

Every transaction in Tally (like sales, purchases, payments) affects at least two ledgers (this follows the double-entry accounting system).


🔹 Types of Ledgers:

There are many types of ledgers, but some common ones are:

🔹 Example:

Suppose Adarsh buys a phone from Reyansh for ₹20,000. You’ll need these ledgers:

  1. Reyansh (as a seller) – Under Sundry Creditor

  2. Mobile Purchase – Under Purchase Account

  3. Cash/Bank – If money is paid


🔹 How to Create a Ledger in Tally Prime:

  1. Go to Gateway of Tally → Press Alt + G → Type Create Ledger or go to:
    Accounts InfoLedgersCreate

  2. Fill in:

    • Name of the ledger (like "Adarsh")

    • Group it belongs to (like "Sundry Debtors")

    • GST and other details (if needed)

  3. Press Ctrl + A to save
